The demolition of the Rectory began in ernest on Monday October 27th and in the course of a few hours much of the brick and mortar were reduced to a pile of rubble. Our local newspaper also carried the story on its front page today. Please click here to view the story in the Amherst Daily News.
RECTORY TO BE DEMOLISHED
October 19, 2008
The Parish Offices have moved temporarily to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home and Fr. Driscoll has moved to an apartment, the remaining furniture has been auctioned; many of the removable parts in the house have been salvaged and sold. Next Wednesday there are plans to demolish what remains. This land is being cleared to make room for the construction of the future parish church and hall.
CAMPAIGN OVER $700,000
October 1, 2008
Deacon Howard reported last evening that the Campaign has exceeded the $700,000 mark. Expect further updates as the week progresses.
CAMPAIGN ENTERS FINAL WEEKS
September 21,2008
Our Campaign Thermometer currently sits at $680,000.
Our faithful canvassers and Campaign Cabinet are working hard these days to complete the active part of our Financial Campaign. As part of this, Mrs. Sharon Gould is speaking at the three Liturgical celebrations this weekend. Please read the attached letter of support from Archbishop Mancini.
The offices are set to move Monday and Tuesday. The offices are being relocated directly across from the church in the white house of Furlong Jones Funeral Home. Entrance to the Parish Office will be the front door facing Church Street. The staff will be around and about and available as much as possible during these days. The phone number remains the same.
Arrangements are being made to have some of the materials from the Rectory salvaged by an outside firm and are planning to auction off any remaining items (furnishings etc.) after the salvage. The salvage firm would be willing to sell anything that might be of interest to a parishioner. It is felt that an auction is the only fair way to ensure everyone has an opportunity to bid on the various items. A week prior to the auction (mid October), a list of auction items will be available.

CAMPAIGN BACK IN FULL SWING
September 14,2008
Amidst the storm of last weekend, Dr. Brian Ferguson led us in beginning the final weeks of our Campaign. As part of his presentation, there was the unveiling of the tentative model of our new complex around which Mr Bert VanLeeuwen was dutifully present to explain and answer questions. The comments heard about the proposed model were very favourable and numerous

Our Building Committee and the Finance Council have received the preliminary estimates of the total cost of our new facility and they have come in under budget. These are not the final costs, but the advice is that all will be within our budget.
Last Four Weeks of Canvassing
September 7, 2008
Our new year of activity in the Parish begins now with the final four weeks of active canvassing in our current Financial Campaign. Welcome back everyone. Some of our members have been working hard throughout the summer on behalf of the Parish on the Financial Campaign and the preparations for our new complex. Always there is need for more hands and so we do make an urgent and serious appeal for any who feel they can help in these final weeks of the Campaign. Please call the Office as soon as possible.
Special Presentations on Three Weekends
September 7, 2007
Dr. Brian Ferguson, Honorary Chair of our Financial Campaign, will speak at all the Masses this weekend; Pauline Furlong has prepared a special edition of our Parish Newsletter, Gatherings; next Sunday we will receive a supportive letter from Archbishop Mancini and the following week there will be a parishioner addressing all of us at the weekend liturgies
Loving Father, you chose Mary and Joseph to raise your Son Jesus Christ in a human family where he grew in wisdom, in stature and favor with you and his people.
Under the patronage of the Holy Family, we follow your Son as faithful disciples growing in knowledge and wisdom of your will for us.
With great confidence, then, we ask the intercession of the Holy Family as we seek to meet vital needs of our parish through this financial campaign. Inspire us to imitate the generous stewardship of Mary and Joseph as they accepted their calling to raise your Son. May we always go forward, strengthened and renewed, in loving service of Christ and our neighbor.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
