~Foundation Continued ~
As with last week's news of pipes and flags, so to this week but you can see as well, that the gravel has once again been flattened and compacted within the confines of the walls. Those blessed with a good imagination for these things can likely see the various rooms

~CONFIRMATION CELEBRATION~
We are celebrating Confirmation this weekend at the 11:15 Eucharist. The names of our Confirmandi were published in last weekend’s bulletin. We congratulate the Confirmandi and their families on this important occasion. We appreciate the gift of time and talent given by their catechist Maria Boudreau, who prepared our young people. We also thank the Catholic Women's League and the Knights of Columbus for their contributions to our celebration.
~BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE~
The Book of Remembrance is located in the sanctuary of the church for everyone to sign the names of their departed loved ones. Throughout the month of November we remember these names at all the Masses.
~REMEMBRANCE DAY~
Wednesday, November 11th, our nation marks Remembrance Day when we call to mind all those who have died in both world wars. All members of our Parishes are asked to pause to remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. The Remembrance Day Service will be held at First Baptist Church at 11:00am.
~STEWARDSHIP FOCUS~
Our annual focus on Stewardship as a Lifestyle will take place next weekend November 14th and 15th. There will be a Ministries Fair conducted in the Church Hall after each Mass, with displays from each parish committee and organization. Representatives will be present to answer questions you may have. Parish commitment cards will be available for parishioners who want to share gifts and talents with our faith community. As a sign of stewardship, various groups will serve tea and coffee as you tour the displays. November 21st and 22nd will feature our annual commitment weekend and during both weekends our homilies will focus on the theme of Stewardship.
~ANNUAL HEALING MASS~
The Annual Mass with Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 18th at 11:00am followed by a lunch/dinner served by the CWL in the Church Hall. Mark this date on your calendar.
~BAPTISM PREPARATION~
Parents wanting children baptized should call the Parish Office to schedule an appointment for Baptism preparation. Please call Maria or Deacon Howard at 667-2523.
~RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS~
- Classes continue for Levels Primary to 5 at West Highlands School on Sunday mornings beginning at 10:00am.
- Because of the Remembrance Day observance there will be no classes for Level 6 and 7 this week. Level 6 will resume November 18th and Level 7 will resume November 17th at 6:00pm in the Church Hall.
- “How do we keep our children safe” has been a primary concern in the Archdiocese of Halifax. The archdiocese is currently strengthening existing protocols that all volunteers working with young people will be required to comply. Currently our Catechists ( except those under 18) have completed police checks and all classroom doors at West Highlands will remain open during class time. Parents are always welcome to sit in on classes if they choose. If you have questions regarding current protocols, please contact Deacon Howard at 667-2523.
- There will be a meeting of all catechists on Sunday, November 22nd beginning at 10:00am in the Church Office (Furlong Jones). Classes for that Sunday will take place in the main Church beginning at 10:00am with Mrs. Glenna O'Quinn. The children have been asked to participate in our annual Christmas Concert scheduled on December 6th. Glenna will be preparing the children for the concert. A note has gone home to parents this weekend about the concert and we encourage the participation of all children.
~CONFIRMATION – FALL OF 2010 MEETING~
A meeting of parents and young people being confirmed in the fall of 2010 will take place Wednesday, November 18th in the Church Hall beginning at 7:00pm. Young people from Levels 8 and 9 and older are eligible to receive the sacrament. Program details, expectations for candidates and formal registration will take place. Please make every effort to attend. For more information, contact Maria Boudreau 667-0667 or Deacon Howard 667-2523.

~CHRISTMAS/NO TURKEY/HAM!~
Let’s make sure no one in this community has this experience. Please donate a turkey/ham for our Christmas Food Boxes and ensure every family has a traditional Christmas dinner. The cost of a turkey is approximately $20.00. Place your donation in the collection and write “Christmas Turkey/Ham Donation” as well as your name, envelope number on the front of the envelope.
~CHRISTMAS CHEER BOXES~
We will begin to collect food items for the 90+ cheer boxes next weekend, October 18th in preparation for the distribution of Christmas boxes for those in need. Over several weeks we will be asking for specific food items on a particular weekend. There is a schedule of the foods required to fill each box attached to this week's bulletin. For people who choose to make a donation rather than bringing food each week, please consider the following: 1) Cost of a box including the turkey-$95.00. 2) Cost of turkey-$20.00. Parishioners who choose to donate the cost of a box or a turkey would receive a charitable tax receipt. We ask that you place this schedule on your refrigerator for future reference. For the November 15th weekend 48 oz. Canned Apple Juice & Soda Crackers
